Some sober alcoholics go back to drinking. WHY??? It's a physical disease that may be triggered by tiredness, hunger, or the damage done over the years resulting in the compulsion to drink that overcomes the desire not to drink. Stinking thinking usually precedes actual drinking. The greatest danger in thinking is DENIAL. Then there are: resentment, self-pity, impatience, frustration, cockiness, complacency, depression, suspicion, criticism, distrust, mental dishonesty. Father Martin offers some warning signs to look for before you drink or use drugs again. "Be on guard against the unguarded moment." Think a drink through to the end. And have compassion for Relapsers.
